GodaisanThe history of this name (Godaisan) originates in Chinese mountain (Godaisan means five table mountain) in Shan-tung Province (Santosho, Shangdongsheng). Since I was a boy, I have lived near Godaisan and liked this area. So I've often visited this place. Godaisan is roughly separated to the following three areas, 1.the top of the mountain (There are television towers, garden and an observation deck), 2.Chikurinji (Chikurin_temple) (bamboo_woods_temple) and 3.Makino Botanical Garden. 1. The top of the GodaisanThis mauntain is not so high, about 139m. There are television towers that covers very wide area, the observation deck and garden. In the garden, various trees are planted. For example, satsuki(what in English), tsutsuji(azalea), sakura(cherry tree), etc. In April, a lot of flowers bloom in these trees. 2. ChikurinjiThis temple was built at 724 by a priest Gyouki and is famous as a temple of wisdom and study. Chikurinji is the 31st of 88 temples that Kobo Daishi established in Shikoku. In this temple, people who dress entirely in white are often witnessed all season. They are called "Ohenrosan" in Japanese. Ohenrosan are making a tour to 88 temples for a pilgrimage. You can see more photos of this garden 3.
