Osaka is the historical commercial capital of Japan and is still one of Japan's major industrial centers and ports.

Osaka Castle (Osakajo)
Osakajo is one of Japan's most famous castles. This castle was built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1583 and rebuilt by the Tokugawa shoguns in the 1620s.
In 1665 the donjon was struck by lightning and burned to the ground. The present castle constructed from ferro-concrete was built in 1931 and major repair was given in 1997.
