1) Japanese food (Washoku)

We mainly eat the rice as a carbohydrate. The rice are used in the other countries (China, Korea, Taiwan, Southeast Asia etc). Vegetables are boiled and seasoned.

Fish

In Japanese style, we often eat a raw fish. This style is famous for Sashimi (photo). The other arts of cooking are same with the other country.

Meat

Till the Meiji Restoration, Japanese hadn't eaten meat because of religious reason. After the Meiji Restoration, we have eaten the meat such as a chicken, a pig, a cow. Sukiyaki (photo) is a very famous cooking style.

And we often eat Tofu, a egg, a fermented soybeans (Natto) and a bean paste soup (Miso soup) etc.

3) Chinese food (Chuka)

There are a lot of menu.

To give examples of simple Chinese food, there are Chinese noodles in soup (rawmen), fried rice with various ingredients (chaofan), Chinese-style dumpling (gyoza), steamed meat dumpling (shaomai) and so on. Japanese like Chinese food very much.

4) Light meal

Curry and rice
The orgin of curry is India. The curry seems to be intorduced to Japan at the Meiji Era. But the detail origin into Japan is not clear. Japanese children like the curry and rice very much.
